Profile

Dr Catherine Fisher is a historian and policy adviser who holds a PhD from the School of History at The Australian National University. She co-edited Expressions of War in Australia and the Pacific: Language, Trauma, Memory, and Official Discourse (Palgrave Macmillan, 2020). Her work has been published in Women’s History Review and Lilith: A Feminist History Journal, and she has contributed to the Australian Dictionary of Biography.

She graduated from the University of Sydney in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours). During her time at the University of Sydney she was the recipient of several awards and scholarships, including the 2010 Isabel M King Memorial Prize for History III, the Walter Reid Memorial Prize and a University of Sydney Honours Scholarship. In 2014 she graduated from Deakin University with a Graduate Diploma of Museum Studies, before being accepted into the PhD program at ANU. During her time at ANU she has been named runner-up for the 2015 Ken Inglis Postgraduate Prize, and was awarded a National Archives of Australia/Australian Historical Association Postgraduate Scholarship in January 2016.

She is currently a member of the editorial collective of Lilith: A Feminist History Journal, and is the editorial assistant for the ANU National Centre Biography’s e-journal Using Lives: Essays in Australian Biography and History.
